Valtteri Raekallio (b.1982)

-freelance dance artist based in Helsinki, Finland

Valtteri Raekallio has performed in over 70 productions in 40 countries. He has appeared in contemporary dance performances, opera and theatre productions and films. Valtteri is working as a dancer for Ina Christel Johannessen / Zero Visibility Corp. for the productions Frozen Songs (2017), The Guest (2015) and Terra 0 Motel (2014).

Valtteri Raekallio´s choreographic work reaches from stage work Muistikuvia – Recollections (2019), Oneiron (2018), Frigid (2017), Esitys – A Performance (2016) and Rehearsal on Love (2015) to multi-disciplinary, immersive site-specific works such as Yleisö (2018), Neuromaani (2016), Novelleja unohdetuista huoneista / Short Stories from Forgotten Rooms (2015), Edustaja / The Representative (2014), Where Does the Light Go? (2013) and dance films of different approaches, most recently Cold Storage (2016), Fear is a habit (2014),  Sub Terra (2014) and Waiting Song (2013).

In  2017  Raekallio was awarded the Uusimaa Cultural Prize and a five-year Finnish State Grant for Artists. In 2018, his work was seen at Aerowaves Twenty18 and the Ice Hot dance platform in Reykjavik.

Valtteri Raekallio is also an internationally recognized teacher in high demand at dance worshops and universities. He and his company are supported by Kone Foundation, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
