Raekallio Corp:in yhteistuotantojen sarja jatkuu 6.11.2025 ensi-iltansa saavalla Lycan-teoksella.
Tanssitaiteilija Elke Schroederin luoma ja esittämä Lycan on intensiivinen matka muodonmuutoksen maailmaan. Lycan tarkoittaa ihmissutta ja viittaa teoksen pääteemaan: muodonmuutoksen käsitteeseen. Tässä vahvasti fyysisessä tanssiteoksessa työstetään suurta määrää raakaa luonnonsavea – materiaalia, jota ihmiset ovat muovanneet vuosituhansien ajan tutkiakseen muutoksen voimaa.
Kun Schroeder liikkuu, nostaa ja muovaa savea, hän kutsuu yleisön palaamaan omiin kehollisiin muistoihinsa muodonmuutoksesta: olipa kyse lapsuuden ilosta sormet mullassa tai aikuisuuden haasteesta tasapainoilla erilaisten minäkuvien välillä.
Teoksen juuret ovat Schroederin omissa kokemuksissa naiseudesta. Naisille on pitkään ollut välttämätöntä muuntautua jatkuvasti täyttääkseen lukemattomat ulkoiset odotukset. Tämä ei kuitenkaan ole vain naisten tarina, vaan universaali kertomus ihmisyydestä. Lycanissa muodonmuutos valjastetaan voimaantumisen välineeksi. Kulttuureissa ympäri maailmaa muodonmuuttajat ovat olleet voiman ja viisauden haltijoita: shamaaneja, mystikkoja, parantajia, jumalia ja demoneja. He ilmentävät muutoksen ja sopeutumisen voimia sekä luonnon villiä vapautta, jota ei voi kesyttää.

Elke Schroeder
on kanadalais-saksalainen Helsingissä asuva tanssitaiteilija. Hän työskentelee esiintyjänä, opettajana ja teosten tekijänä taide- ja liikuntainstituutioissa ympäri maailmaa. Vuonna 2005 Toronto Dance Theatren koulusta valmistuneen Elken monipuoliseen koulutustaustaan kuuluu lukuisia tanssityylejä, akrobatiaa, teatteriopintoja, kamppailulajeja, urheilua, toiminnallista liikettä ja joogaa.
Elke on pitkän linjan Fighting Monkey -harjoituksen opiskelija ja ohjaaja. Hän on yhdessä kumppaninsa Mikko Rinnevuoren kanssa perustanut Underdog Practice -ryhmän, tekee sooloteoksia oman par/amour-yrityksensä alla ja tanssii Raekallio Corp. -ryhmässä. Elke tunnetaan voimakkaan kehollisista ja vaikuttavista esityksistään.
Taiteilijana hän työskentelee rajapinnassa, jossa yhdistyvät voimakkaat aiheet ja virtuoosinen tanssi-ilmaisu. Menetelmänään (luomisessa, esiintymisessä ja opettamisessa) Elke käyttää tehtäväpohjaista lähestymistapaa. Tällä hetkellä hänen työnsä tutkii aistien priorisointia syvemmän tietoisuuden tilan saavuttamiseksi.

Raekallio Corp's series of co-productions continues with the premiere of Lycan on November 6th 2025.
Lycan, created and performed by dance artist Elke Schroeder, is a visceral journey into shapeshifting. This highly physical dance performance uses raw natural clay—a material shaped by human hands for millennia—to explore the power and vulnerability of transformation.
As Schroeder moves, lifts, and molds the clay, she invites the audience to reconnect with their own memories of change—whether it’s the childhood joy of sculpting playdough or the adult challenge of adapting between your many selves.
Rooted in Schroeder’s own experiences as a female-identifying person, Lycan reclaims shapeshifting as an act of empowerment. For women, there has long been a need to shapeshift in order to meet myriad expectations. Yet this is not only a woman’s story; it is a universal one. Across cultures, shapeshifters inhabit places of power: shamans, mystics, healers, gods, demons—they embody the forces of change and adaptation, a wildness that refuses to be contained.

Elke Schroeder
is a Canadian/German Helsinki-based dance artist. A performer, teacher and maker, her work takes her to art and movement institutions around the world. A graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2005, her diverse training background includes myriad dance styles, acrobatics, theatre studies, martial arts, athletics, functional movement and yoga.
Elke is a long-time student and instructor of the Fighting Monkey practice. She is the co-creator of Underdog Practice with her partner Mikko Rinnevuori, makes solo work for her own company par/amour, and is a dancer for Raekallio Corp.Elke is known for her viscerally impactful performances.
As an artist she works with the intersection of topics-on-the-edge and virtuosic dance expression. As a methodology (in creating, performing and teaching) Elke uses a task-based approach. Currently her work investigates the prioritizing of the senses in order to inhabit a deeper state of awareness.
